St. Charles, Missouri
Preparations Complete, held in May 2004 at St. Charles, Missouri, commemorated the 200th anniversary of the start of Lewis & Clark’s 8,000 mile round trip up the Missouri River, across the Rocky Mountains and down the Colombia River to the Pacific Ocean and back.
Members and elders of the Kickapoo Nation of Oklahoma returned to their ancestral homeland for the event.
Tribal programming includes:
Opening Ceremony: Tribal flag procession. Members of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma, including many elders, return to their ancestral homeland.
Crossing Borders Powwow: InterTribal powwow held at Portage des Sioux.
Corps of Discovery II: 200 Years to the Future.
